(1) Positive Statement: A positive thing that has happened as a result of what I have done so far is that I got to meet mentors that can help me with my senior project. Since I now volunteer in the Pediatrics department, I meet R.N's, M.D.'s and other professionals with clinical experience.
(2) EQ Content: My interview has helped improve my understanding of my topic because it made me more aware that pediatricians not only treat small children, but they also see adolescents. Also, my interview helped me understand what type of characteristics professionals in the pediatric department need to have such as patience.
(3) So far, the research checks have been really helpful because I can get more knowledge about my topic and can give me a few ideas for the science fair. The research checks have also giving me an inside view as to what type of cases pediatricians have to see on a daily basis.
(4) I think that wasn't worked for me is acquiring the time to talk to some of my mentors. Most of them have really busy schedules and I have to find a way to work around them in order to get interviews or just ask them a question.
(5) Finding Value: Based on your experience so far.
- A question that comes to mind regarding what I would like to study is, how vigorous or challenging the course load is in medical school. Also aside from seeing patients, what else do doctors do when they go into their offices.
- My end goal this year for my senior project is to do a good job explaining my topic to others and while I'm presenting, it shows that I have worked really hard to become an expert on my topic.
- I would really like to talk to a doctor who works in my topic field, because they can tell me how they got interested in doing their job or what it takes to become a doctor. I believe that a doctor can teach me a lot of things pertaining to my topic and probably tell me interesting stories about their first day as a doctor.
